Unique Features of Section
- This Maintenance ORG has 2 International border crossing in Nogales and the one on SR 189 (Mariposa) is a main NAPTA route from Mexico to the United States.
- Also within the boundaries of this Maintenance Section are 3 major lakes, Pena Blanca Lake, located on SR 289 milepost 10.83, Patagonia Lake is North of SR 82 milepost 12.15 and Parker Canyon Lake is on SR 83 milepost 3.19. There are excellent fishing and camping at all 3 lakes.
- Tubac Presidio, ruins of the oldest European settlement in Arizona from the 1600’s, is preserved and located on Interstate 19 at exit 34.
- Tumacacori National Historical Park, located on I-19 at exit 28, displays ruins of three Spanish Colonial Missions.
